Here is a selection of some of our music… Be sure to visit our YouTube channel and keep an eye on our Blog for new recordings/videos of the choir.
‘Pokarekare Ana’ (1914) – A song of yearning sang by the wives of the Maori soldiers who set off from New Zealand to fight for the Empire in the First World War. The AVMVC sing it in Maori, English and Welsh.
‘He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother (1969) – Originally a hit for The Hollies, this classic has been covered many times over the years and it is a song the AVMVC love.
‘Tydi a Rhoddaist’ (1938) – A traditional Welsh hymn composed by Arwel Hughes, it addresses ‘Thou who gave’st’ in a plea for man’s salvation.
‘The World in Union’ (1991) – The “anthem” of the Rugby World Cup, most people will recognise it from ‘I Vow to Thee My Country.’ Rest assured, the AVMVC do a better job than the latest version heard during the 2015 tournament!
‘Senghenydd’ – A song for the memory of the 439 men and boys who lost their lives in the October 1913 Universal Colliery disaster – the worst mining disaster to have occurred in Britain.
